Also known as the “blessed seed” the oil of Nigella Sativa or Black seed as been valued by various peoples and cultures for thousands of years.

Antiviral Activity

Investigators from Kyushu University in Japan report that black seed oil might be helpful in preventing conjunctivitis, abscesses, parasites and other infections. These antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral roles have been attributed to the essential oil of the seed.

Japanese researchers also shown that in vivo treatment with black seed oil induces a strong antiviral effect against murine cytomegalovirus infection.

The results of this study was published in the September 2000 issue of the “International Journal of Immuno-pharmacology.”

Various advocates of alternative medicine have noted black seed’s efficacy at managing and treating of HIV/AIDS and other opportunistic infection.

Antibacterial Activity

Black seed oil possesses strong antibacterial activity when examined through in vitro and invivo systems, report researchers at Jawarharlal
Nehru Medical College in India. The results of this study have been published in the “Hippocratic Journal of Unani Medicine” in 2008. It was found that gram-positive bacteria were generally more sensitive to the tested extracts than gram-negative. Chronic staph infections also succumb to the oil of black seed.

Cough and Asthma

Apply Black Seed oil to the chest and back. Mix a teaspoon of Black Seed oil in boiling water and inhale the vapor twice a day. Take half a teaspoon
of Black Seed oil daily in the morning.

Addictions

Black seed oil has been clinically demonstrated to decrease physical dependence on opiates (heroin), marijuana, and even SUGAR addiction.

Dry Cough

A teaspoon of Black Seed oil should be mixed in coffee and taken twice a day. Rub the chest and back with Black Seed oil.

Flu & Nasal Congestion

Placing three to four drops of Black Seed oil in each nostril relieves nasal congestion and headcold distress.

Inflammation of the Nose and Throat

Put a few drops of oil in a cup of boiling water and inhale the vapour. Take half a teaspoon of Black Seed oil with lemon juice daily.

Headache and Earache

Apply Black Seed oil to the forehead, sides of face adjacent to the ears and behind the ears. Take half a teaspoon of Black Seed oil and continue for 3 days.

Heart Ailments & Constriction of Veins

Take half teaspoon of Black Seed oil mixed with any hot drink daily in the mornings. This will liquefy the fats and widen the veins and arteries.

Backache & Other Kinds of Rheumatism

Mildly heat a small amount of Black Seed oil and then apply to the rheumatic area, rubbing intensely.
A teaspoon of Black Seed oil should also be drunk three times daily.

Hair Growth

Massage the hair area with Black Seed oil ensuring that the oil penetrates to the roots. This will stimulate the growth of the beard and prevents premature hair greying.

Baldness & Premature Greying

Scrub the scalp thoroughly with lemon, leave it for 15 minutes, wash away with water and shampoo and dry well, thereafter apply Black Seed oil to the whole scalp, continue for a few weeks. Swallowing the oil alone reversed greying of 15 years to less than 10%.

Cystic Fibrosis
